MEET THE BAND
Sum of Talented Parts
Bass Guitar & Vocals
Founder member since 1996. Self-taught guitarist and bass guitarist Carl has been playing the guitar since the age of 12 and after messing around in a couple of ‘bands that practiced each week but never played live’ formed ‘Color’ in 1996 with his Dad Colin and Brothers Paul and Ian. ‘Color’ was renamed ‘Macca’ in 2001. A huge music fan Carl also manages the band and bookings and enjoys fronting the band along with his Father Colin.
Founder member since 1996. Paul has played guitar since the age of 7. He played in various ‘school bands’ with his friends growing up then formed ‘Color’ in 1996 with his Dad Colin and Brothers Carl and Ian. ‘Color’ was renamed ‘Macca’ in 2001. Nick named ‘Mr Slow’ because of his general laid back attitude, there’s nothing slow when his fingers hit the fret board of his beloved Fender Stratocaster!
Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Founder member since 1996. Colin has been singing in bands since the age of 13. Colin’s bands played in and around his hometown of Liverpool and several times at the original ‘Cavern Club’ in Liverpool in 1967. Colin’s been in many bands over the years before forming ‘Color’ in 1996 which was renamed ‘Macca’ in 2001 with his sons Paul and Carl and other son Ian who retired from the band in 2005.
Ed’s been playing the drums since the age of 20. Ed joined Macca in 2004 after drunkenly telling the band “I can play the drums” when a guest at a wedding Macca were playing at. The band joker and always up for a laugh, Ed provides the beat at the heart of the Macca sound.
Keys, Guitar & Vocals
Colin started playing drums at the age of 10. A multi-talented musician, as well as the drums Colin also plays guitar, piano, trumpet and violin. Colin played drums in many bands in and around his hometown of Newcastle before joining Macca in 2011. Having served his time as a drummer Colin wanted to ‘move to the front’ of the band and sing lead vocals whilst alternating between playing the guitar and the keyboards. The ‘quiet one’ in the band, Colin is happiest when playing an instrument and would happily play live 7 nights a week if he could!
